UHM i personally KNOW julie. she really is funny and i think she was hilarious on the show. so if you all could stop saying shes not even trying to stereotype indians BECAUSE its not true. she did a good thing; im half indian half italian, so yes i am part of the culture she is representing.

I’m Indian but a lot of people who are Indian don’t think I am, but bull to them. I thought Julie’s imitations of accents was hilarious because it IS! I have so many Oriental friends who imitate their accents as well, all in good fun too.

I agree with Raj– just because you were born and are up into your “Indianness” doesn’t mean you can go around telling people if they are or are not Indian. That’s like telling Americans that they aren’t American enough if they don’t like hamburgers and like international traveling.

Really, Julie was great, I enjoyed her presence on the show. Anchal became whinier unfortunately and it would have been interesting to see how Julie’s character would have been revealed.

Julie was not as bad as Anchal last season. Can’t they get better looking Indian girls? no offense. Anand Jon is gross, i wouldnt be surprised. J. Alexander, i can’t believe he said that. & Toccara should see Indian models like Deepika Padukone & Diandra Soares, etc, theyre extremely exotic & beautiful.

1. To people who don’t have it, the Indian accent is hysterical. That’s not disrespect, that’s just the truth.

2. Who cares if someone jokingly calls you “Curry Mama” if it’s all in good fun and not malicious?

3. Indian parents who think modeling is equivalent to porno should be called out for being ignornant and closed-minded,

4. Being Indian is a state of mind and a state of heart. Just because you were born there and you know a llittle about cricket and bollywood doesn’t give you the right to judge someone else as being ‘less’ Indian.

5. Where did she imply that Indians are dumb? That was your biased conclusion.

6. If the dude smelled bad, why are you faulting her for mentioning it? The truth is that a lot of Indians DO smell, due to poor personal hygiene. You know it and I know it. Again, I’m not trying to be disrepectful, just being real.

You said you wanted to break the stereotype of Indian girls and Indians in general but:

1. You make fun of Indians who have accents and perpetuate the stereotype that brown people have a funny accent.
2. You allow non-Indians to call you “Curry mama”
3. You make fun of Indians by ridiculing their lack of knowledge regarding American TV shows when you say your parents think this is a porno.
4. You are an ABCD, meaning you are American Born, Confused Desi. How are you Indian? Because you eat the food and make fun of the accent?
5. You imply that Indians are dumb by making these statements on an Indian website, thinking no one realizes these self-contradictions and hypocrisy.
6. You say another Indian guy smells bad, thereby setting back every Indian guy who has to fight the stereotype of not bathing.

To summarize, you break Indian stereotypes by ridiculing an accent of a culture you know nothing about, call your people smelly, and demonstrate you are a weak pushover by letting people call you curry mama.

In what way are you breaking Indian stereotypes? Maybe you’re breaking the stereotype that Indians are smart.

In the future, please stop trying elevate your selfish motivations by trying to use the desi connection while insulting and smearing Indians in the process.
