unting for ways to spice up your abode with South Asian style without jetting off to the Subcontinent? Unsure of how to incorporate South Asian influences into your decorating scheme? Having difficulty locating South Asian-inspired products that mix traditional and contemporary styles? Let be your guide to the rising stars of South Asian home décor.

Les Indiennes

Known for beautiful blending of French Provençal style with the traditional Indian art of Kalamkari wood blocking, Les Indiennes offers a full line of pillows, bedding, throws and even fabric sold by the meter.

Les Indiennes Home Collection

Although based in Scottsdale, Arizona, you can find Les Indiennes fabrics at boutiques all over the globe, from London to Johannesburg and New York to San Francisco. It’s the perfect way to combine European shabby chic with Eastern ethnic flair. We particularly like Print #12, Pierette.

Tilonia

Like South Asian décor but feel guilty about purchasing crafts often produced by exploitative labor practices? Then look no further than Tilonia. Named after a region in rural north India, the company offers products handmade by local artisans. They are aided in this noble pursuit by the Barefoot College, a nonprofit organization dedicated to solving the problems inherent in rural communities by involving the communities themselves. We like the Bell Totas—brightly hued strings of beads, bells and cotton stuffed birds that bring a dash of color and sound into any room of your house. Try hanging several on a wall or even in a doorway for a twist on tradition.

Beauty At A Bargain

Holiday shopping put a strain on your wallet? Not to worry— found these bargains that are sure to beautify your home without breaking your budget!

John Robishaw

This textile company’s factories in Jaipur create handmade fabrics as well as finished bedding and tabletop linens that can be found in showrooms and retailers from coast to coast and around the globe. We particularly like the Kerala Tabletop, a neutral wheat-colored fabric dressed up with mirrorwork and a subtle fringe, and a pitch-perfect combination of traditional and contemporary home décor with South Asian style. Tablecloths, place mats and napkins complete the entire set.

Ankasa

Headed by husband and wife design team Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia, Ankasa bills itself as “couture for the home,” and backs up that boast with gorgeous embroidered bedding and other home accessories. The Ahluwalias transformed their expertise in providing embroidered fabrics for such famed fashion houses as Escada and Oscar de la Renta to creating luxury linens for the home. Ankasa can be found in both small boutiques around the country as well as larger retailers such as Neiman Marcus. We fell in love with the fuchsia and chocolate loveliness of the Le Jardin bedding set.

Skeem

Searching for a more subtle way to express your South Asian heritage? Check out Skeem, whose beautiful pillar and tin candles and canvas wall hangings show a distinct South Asian flair without being too obvious. Skeem’s fuchsia and sky blue “Jaipur” canvas wall hanging was even featured in the Fall/Winter issue of InStyle Home. It’s a clever way to incorporate South Asian influences without resorting to the traditional pillows and throws. Skeem can be found at a number of showrooms across the country. We like the Masala and Sari Border pillar candles, and if you’re feeling generous, the Paisley Boxed Gift Set.

Tribal Monsoon

Don’t have time to go hunting in different shops to pull your new South Asian inspired home décor together? Try Tribal Monsoon for your one-stop-South-Asian-shopping-spot. This site showcases everything from furniture to duvet covers to home accessories like decorative jewelry boxes. We were almost overwhelmed by the wide array of offerings, but we loved the Swat Wood Coffee Table, which doubles as a convenient storage site; beauty and practicality rolled into one!

Alpana Bawa

This Indian-born and U.S.-based fashion designer’s clothing collections have been bringing brilliant colors and elegant embroidery to grateful customers since 2001, so it’s only natural that she expanded her reach into the realm of domesticity. Featured in dozens of magazines, her pillows and tabletop accessories display her trademark attention to detail and brilliant color palette.n
