Went home from school when the shots were fired. The trucks burnt and blasted for 12 nights. I didnt know wot was going on. Why were they after the sweet sardarjis? Can still never figure it out. The I became one of 'them' in 2002- though I didnt live in Gujrat. That day India ended for me. When I went to work and people spoke politely about who 'they asked for it. The gang raped burnt alive mothers and their foetuses. They re-elected Modi. I guess India is tottering, but standing, still.. But as Shonali rightly says, 1984 started it all. I don't think anyone has ever made a feature film on the subject. Thanks to JAMAN, I ran into the movie and decided to rent it. Konkona Sen has played the role of Amu wonderfully. She shows everyone why she is just so far above and beyond the other 'run of the mill' actresses of Bollywood. The most intense scene was the screaming of little Amu's Father. No wonder the movie has been banned by the Govt. of India since the Congress leaders engineered the entire riot thing. I admire Shonali for being so brave in making this movie.
