New Yorkers! If your resolutions this year include being less about this and more up on all this, then you’re in luck.

This weekend, toss the smut, throw on a black turtleneck, and head down to the Rubin Museum of Art to catch Amitav Ghosh shooting the breeze with Thant Myint-U about Burma’s dark past.

Then next week, swing by the Asia Society where Vikram Chandra, author of Love and Longing in Bombay, will be talking about his latest novel, Sacred Games–which Publishers Weekly has decided successfully depicts “Mumbai in all its seedy glory.”

On Thursday, it’s time to break out the dark-rimmed angular specs for a date with Edward Luce, former South Asia correspondent for the Financial Times and author of In Spite of the Gods: The Strange Rise of Modern India . So hot.

Tickets are currently available online.
